²ÝÁñÉçÇø Board Honors Police Officers of the Year for 2023-2024

7 ²ÝÁñÉçÇø Police Officer standing togetherAt the ²ÝÁñÉçÇø Board Meeting on Monday, August 26, the Board of Trustees proudly recognized the ²ÝÁñÉçÇø Police Officers of the Year for the 2023-2024 school year. These officers were honored for their exceptional dedication, professionalism and service to the school community. 

Elementary Police Officers of the Year 

Officer Leslie Ramirez of Eagle Mountain Elementary School was awarded the title of Elementary Police Officer of the Year. Nominated by former Principal Jason Beaty, Officer Ramirez was praised for her commitment to building strong relationships with students and her dedication to the school community.  

"Leslie embodies the essence of dedication, compassion and service to our school community in a manner that is truly exceptional," said Beaty. "She is undeniably one of the most valuable staff members we have at Eagle Mountain Elementary." 

Also recognized as an Elementary Police Officer of the Year was Officer Stephen Garrick of Willow Creek Elementary School. Nominated by Principal Stacie Witt, Officer Garrick was commended for going beyond the call of duty to ensure a safe and nurturing environment.  

"Officer Garrick has been an invaluable asset to Willow Creek Elementary," said Witt. "His experience with law enforcement, coupled with a genuine passion for working with children, has made a significant difference in promoting a positive school climate." 

Secondary Police Officer of the Year 

Officer Jeff Mitchell of Wayside Middle School was named the Secondary Police Officer of the Year. Dr. Khayla Sewell-Bernard, Principal of Wayside Middle School, highlighted Officer Mitchell's dedication to student safety and his positive presence on campus.  

"Officer Mitchell is absolutely adored by our students, staff and parents. He is always there, providing a safe environment and building positive relationships," said Sewell-Bernard. 

²ÝÁñÉçÇø Police Officer of the Year 

The highest honor, ²ÝÁñÉçÇø Police Officer of the Year, was awarded to Officer Glenn Ieppert of Hatley Elementary School.  

Officer Ieppert was recognized for his unwavering dedication to the department, his ability to respond to various duties without hesitation, and his exceptional leadership in training new officers. His efforts in creating positive relationships with students and staff were also noted.  

"Officer Ieppert embodies the professionalism and character of the Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD Police Department," stated Charles Ramirez, ²ÝÁñÉçÇø Chief of Police. "He consistently goes above and beyond to support our schools and ensure a safe learning environment for everyone." 

Ramirez expressed his pride in all the officers' accomplishments, saying, "Each of these officers has made a significant impact on their campuses and our district as a whole. Their dedication to ensuring a safe and supportive environment for our students and staff is truly commendable, and we are grateful for their service." 

Congratulations to all the ²ÝÁñÉçÇø Police Officers of the Year for their outstanding service and commitment to the safety and well-being of our school community.
